Paw Pals’ Spay/Neuter and Fostering Programs Receive a Boost
Lonnie Tilson, from Whitney, saw the need for portable dog/cat crates to support
Hill County Paw Pals’ fostering program so he recently purchased and donated 16
portable dog/cat crates with a retail value of $800. Pictured with the crates from
left to right, representing Paw Pals, are Dana Fuchs, Jane Green, Lonnie Tilson,
Kathy Moore, and Diana Prince. Tilson has been a devoted volunteer and supporter
of Hill County Paw Pals since its inception. This grass roots group of over 1,000
registered supporters has a primary goal of facilitating a collaborative community
effort with the installation of a county animal control program which would

include an animal shelter to provide humane alternatives such
as adoption of unwanted companion animals.
Paw Pals also recently hosted their 27th
Low Cost Sterilization and Vaccination Clinic in collaboration with Texas Coalition
for Animal Protection (TCAP).
The Denton based non-profit group is the recent recipient
of the Humane Society of the United States Innovation Award which recognized their
achievements in curbing pet overpopulation in this area of Texas. Low cost pet sterilization
service is a vital part in a community’s strategy to correct pet overpopulation.
In fact, no community has ever corrected their pet overpopulation issue without
low cost services made available. Paw Pals’ clinics continue to be performed on
the first Tuesday of each month at the Hillsboro Civic Center (old Wal-Mart Building).
Appointments are needed for surgeries by calling toll free 1-866-310-PETS.
Vaccinations
are administered from 10am-2pm and do not require an appointment.
The following
Paw Pals volunteers worked to make last week’s event another success: Cleo Davis,
Andrea Finch, Dana Fuchs, Anita Gilley, Jane Green, Mary Ann Johnson, Kathy Moore,
Diana Prince, Lea Slocum, and Lonnie Tilson. Hill County is thankful for the support
given by the City of Hillsboro for the use of the Civic Center to perform this needed
service. For more information about the sterilization/vaccination clinic call Kathy
Moore at 582-9374. For information about Hill County Paw Pals, please call 580-0679.
