“Waggin Trail Bike Ride” Being Planned To Help
Support Two Outstanding Causes
Hill County Paw Pals along will Boys and Girls Club of Hill County, both non-profit
IRC 501(c)3 organizations, have joined together for a shared fund raiser—“The Waggin
Trail Bike Ride”. This charitable event
is scheduled on Saturday, May 3 and will include 74 and 41mile routes for the avid
cyclists (named Greyhound and Shepard runs)and 31 and 10 mile routes for casual
fun seekers (named Beagle and Poodle runs).
The planned routes will take one out to the beautiful scenic rural areas of Hill
County. The proceeds will benefit two
worthy causes—building funds for a needed county animal shelter and to help with
the operating expenses of our county’s newly founded Boys and Girls Club.
Hill County is blessed with its beautiful roads and scenery and remains untapped
for such an event for folks to explore this treasure.
Cycling is a sport for the entire family to enjoy.
This fundraiser will become an annual happening and has the potential to
draw thousands of participants. Local
organizations and businesses will have the opportunity to help sponsor this worthy
event. Volunteer citizens who are helping
plan this exciting activity are: Ms. Barneda Wesley, Director of Boys and Girls
Club of Hill County; Tony Cain, Chief of Police Hillsboro Police Department; Detective
Jeremy Gloer, Hillsboro Police Department; Reverend Reed Justus, United Methodist
Church; Robert Watts, Director Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Lane Dykes, Family
Diagnostic Medical Center; Warren Smith, technical expert; and Mike Hendricks, Hill
County Paw Pals representative.
Hill County Paw Pals is a grass roots group that organized with two goals: 1) Facilitate
installation of a county animal control program and promote and contribute to building
a county animal shelter; and 2) Organize to challenge the overpopulation of unwanted
companion animals (dog and cats) with four programs working simultaneously–Education,
Legislation, Spay/Neuter, and Adoption (Project ELSA).
